Ron DeSantis, Florida’s governor, has announced plans for a second new migrant detention centre for his state nicknamed “deportation depot” following the opening of “Alligator Alcatraz”.

The DeSantis administration is making arrangements to hold immigrant detainees at a North Florida prison as a federal judge weighs whether to temporarily shut down Alligator Alcatraz, the makeshift immigration detention camp in the Everglades.

A federal judge is considering whether the construction of a makeshift immigrant detention center in the Florida Everglades, known as "Alligator Alcatraz," violates environmental laws.
