Hezbollah said Wednesday that senior military commander Fuad Shukr was inside the building in Beirut's southern suburbs hit by Israel the previous day and that his fate was still unknown. The Israeli military said its Tuesday strike had "eliminated" Shukr,

There seems no near end to the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Iran-aligned Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah resumed a year ago when the militant group began firing rockets at Israel in support of Palestinian militants Hamas at the start of the Gaza war.

Before the strike, Shukr had reportedly received a phone call in which he was asked to move from his second-floor office to his seventh-floor residence. Reports said that this was done as the seventh floor was an easy target.
