RORY McILROY will sit out the opening round of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Playoffs next week in Memphis. The Masters champion was not named in the field on Friday for the event at TPC Southwind.

Though the FedEx Cup Playoffs begin next week in Memphis, Tennessee, the No. 2 golfer in the world will not be part of the field. Rory McIlroy's name was absent Friday from the 69-man list of competitors for the 2025 St. Jude Championship released by the PGA Tour.

The reigning Masters champion wasn't in the St. Jude field released by the PGA Tour on Friday. The top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings after the conclusion of this week's Wyndham Championship will qualify for the event, so with McIlroy's absence, the field in Memphis, Tennessee, next week will stand at 69.
