Blake Snell struck out nine in six strong innings and the San Francisco Giants completed a three-game series sweep with a 2-0 win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

Coming off their most disappointing home stand of the season, Bob Melvin had a directive for his club. “We realized that we can’t just let the season end,” the San Francisco Giants’ skipper said before their series finale against the Royals.

For the first time in nearly two months, the Giants managed to break out the brooms. With a 2-0 win over the Royals in Sunday’s series finale at Kauffman Stadium, the Giants recorded their second consecutive shutout and finished off their first road sweep of the season,
