County officials say a damaged or uncleared memory card did not fully collect and transmit results from some mail-in ballots to the Minnesota Secretary of State's office on election night. That led to the state website displaying inaccurate unofficial results for Sherburne County.

The results of the two tight legislative battles could determine which party leads the House for the next two years.

Sherburne County officials clarified that no votes were lost or found and that all ballots cast in the election were properly received, documented and counted; however, some ballot totals were not uploaded to the Secretary of State's website on election night.

The two leaders in the Minnesota House are keeping a close eye on recounts in Sherburne and Scott counties, which could determine which party is in control during the next legislative session.
