A brush fire started Thursday southeast of Lake Piru in Ventura County as this week’s warm temperatures in Southern California reached their peak. The Canyon Fire was estimated at about 50 acres and burning in the direction of ranch homes.

An evacuation order has been issued for all of Lake Piru Recreation Area and east to the Los Angeles County line, south to SR 126, west to Center Street.

Mandatory evacuation orders were issued Thursday afternoon for the Lake Piru and Val Verde areas as a wildfire burned nearby amid searing mid-summer temperatures across much of Southern California, officials said The Canyon fire has grown to roughly 1,
