A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued Friday for 14 counties in New Jersey because of the looming threat of strong storms that could lash the state with small hail, heavy downpours and destructive wind gusts as strong as 70 mph.

First Alert Weather Days have been issued for both Saturday and Sunday due to the severe weather threat in the afternoons and evenings. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for all of North Texas until 10 p.

The forecast from KXAS-TV (NBC5) is showing a 20% chance of rain in Dallas at noon, with rain chances slowly increasing over the rest of the afternoon. There is a 40% chance of rain at 3 p.m., which will increase to 80% by 5 p.m.

At 8:11 p.m. on Sunday, the NWS Fort Worth TX issued an updated severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 9:30 p.m. The warning is for Hood, Parker, Erath and Palo Pinto counties.
