Two years after announcing attractions in Texas and Las Vegas, Comcast-owned Universal continues to expand in local markets.

The project would transform a 114,000 square-foot commercial building at 700 W. Chicago Ave. into a complex for everything from multiple haunted houses and thrill-packed rides to “sinister scare zones” and “scare actors on the prowl.

Universal Horror Unleashed will sit in a vacant building on Chicago Avenue. Slated to open in 2027, the project will receive state tax credits, officials said.
