Experts from The World Bird Sanctuary believe severe storms and tornadoes that swept through the St. Louis area may have contributed to the death of a beloved bald eagle named Murphy.

The World Bird Sanctuary announced the passing of Murphy, a 33-year-old bald eagle, who achieved viral stardom for his work as a foster dad, first incubating a rock, and then an eaglet. The World Bird Sanctuary said they discovered Murphy on March 15,

Murphy leaves behind two eagles and a rock he raised as his own. The World Bird Sanctuary said it found him dead of a head injury after the region's storms and tornadoes.
