Anoka County has paid nearly $2.6 million to settle a federal lawsuit brought by Deyonta Green, a former inmate who was found unconscious and seriously injured in his cell after jail staff allegedly denied him opioid withdrawal medication for days.

A man who was denied healthcare while being detained at the Anoka County Jail has received a settlement of $2.75 million.

Deyonta Green was 25 years old when he was booked into the Anoka County Jail in 2022. A few days later, he was hospitalized, according to the lawsuit he filed two years later.
