WARREN, Ohio (AP) - A garishly appointed Ohio mansion that heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson once called home and subsequently fell into disrepair is being converted into a house of worship.

The mansion was built in 1979 and then bought by Tyson in 1989 for $300,000 at a sheriff's sale. Tyson owned the home for 10 years before selling it for $1.3 million to Paul Monea.

Mike Tyson had spotted an advertisement for this house in Bethesda, Md., in the Robb Report, a luxury lifestyle magazine. “He said, “Wait, wait, go look at this one first,’ ” Turner said.
