New Jersey asked a federal judge to block New York from moving forward this weekend with a plan to charge drivers entering Manhattan’s central business district while a legal challenge plays out.

New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority said it will begin congestion pricing tolling on Sunday despite New Jersey officials claiming that a U.S. district judge's ruling disallows the plan.

The state had sued to stop New York’s plan to charge motorists entering Manhattan’s busiest roadways. Late Tuesday night, lawyers requested a temporary restraining order.
