Justin Allgaier, who leads the series in points, came home sixth. Rookie Carson Kvapil finished eighth. Sammy Smith added a ninth-place finish. And van Gisbergen, despite falling short of victory, added another top-two result to his road course résumé.

Erik Jones will take on the role of spotter this weekend at Sonoma Raceway, spotting for his spotter Will Rodgers in Saturday's Xfinity Series race.

NASCAR returns to Sonoma Raceway in California for a weekend of racing, including the Toyota/Save Mart 350 Cup Series race on July 13. The ARCA Menards West Series runs the General Tire 200 on July 11, while the Xfinity Series runs the Pit Boss/FoodMaxx 250 on July 12 along with Cup Series practice and qualifying.

JR Motorsports has already considered who will replace Zilisch for next season, and that's assuming that Zilisch doesn't return full time to the Xfinity Series next year. He's a full-time Trackhouse driver, and the teams did a deal for him to race for JRM this season.
