The Boston Celtics added context to Kristaps Porziņģis' limitations during the NBA playoffs as president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said Monday that Porziņģis battled "post-viral syndrome" throughout the final stretch of the season.
He discussed everything from the health of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to what figures to be a busy offseason.
Boston president Brad Stevens spoke about Porzingis and the big man’s illness at his end-of-season media availability Monday. He offered up an optimistic view where resting up should help Porzingis get over the illness. Stevens added Porzingis’ issues came “out of the blue” as he wasn’t 100% against New York.
Simmons wondered whether the Celtics should ship Porzingis off to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for 27-year-old power forward John Collins, who is set to earn $26.6 million next season before becoming an unrestricted free agent. “John Collins was in one of my get-the-Celtics-under-the-second-apron trades,” Simmons said.
As the Celtics head into a pivotal summer, new details about Jaylen Brown’s injury reveal how much they were battling behind the scenes.
Jaylen Brown reportedly played with a partially torn meniscus during the Celtics' playoff run, which came up short against the Knicks.
