Most forecast models suggest a hurricane landfall on Thursday, and experts say the storm could be at least a Category 3.

A hurricane could make landfall in Florida later this week, the National Hurricane Center has warned. National Hurricane Center forecasts are currently calling the weather system “Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine,” but expect it to form into a hurricane, dubbed “Hurricane Helene,” over the course of the week.

A storm system in the Caribbean Sea is expected to become Tropical Storm Helene by Tuesday and could be a "major hurricane" by the time it reaches the Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday, the National Hurricane Center warns.
