It’s unknown if the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Air will use BOE-made displays. Currently, BOE doesn’t supply Apple with LTPO displays, which are the only ones that feature Apple’s ProMotion variable refresh rate, which is rumored to appear on all models in the next generation of iPhones.

The introduction of the A19 across the board for the iPhone 17 range is promising. That said, Apple has an outstanding track record for delivering processors which are fast and reliable performers. So, whatever the name of the processor, it’s likely to be up to the task.

It's safe to say the launch of the iPhone 17 range this year will be one of the most significant in the history of the brand. Swathes of leaks and rumours suggest that the range will undergo a significant change this time out, with each model employing a different design.

The device will allegedly include a 7.8-inch main display and a 5.5-inch cover screen. When folded, the iPhone Fold is said to be between 9 and 9.5mm thick, while when unfolded, it will be between 4.5 and 4.8mm thick.

Screen mass production is supposed to begin in the fourth quarter of this year, so the foldable iPhone can go on sale in 2026.

Apple’s secret to a crease-free screen on its foldable iPhone might be a “display metal plate,” reports Kuo. I’ll just quote his reasoning:

While the Apple iPhone 17 line has not been officially announced, previous release patterns suggest a possible launch event in September 2025. Industry insiders believe that the iPhone 17 will come with a price tag of $799, with the iPhone 17 Pro coming in at $999, but official pricing information hasn’t been announced at the time of this writing.
