Syria’s Damascus Airport have resumed international flight operations for the first time since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime

The first international flight has landed in Syria since the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad last month. The flight from Qatar landed around 1pm at Damascus International Airport, according to AFP correspondents, the first from the Gulf state in 13 years.

A Qatar Airways plane became the first to land at Damascus airport since the ousting of the government of former President Bashar al-Assad last month, as Syria’s interim leaders hope to reassert a semblance of normalcy in the country.

The first international commercial flight since the fall of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad landed at Damascus airport, arriving from Qatar. Arab and Western countries that had cut off Syria are now beginning to restart diplomatic relations after a rebel offensive unseated the former president.
