NEW YORK (AP) — Bill and Hillary Clinton, actor-director Tyler Perry, and singer Valerie Simpson of Ashford & Simpson are among those who attended a private memorial service for Cicely Tyson.

At age 88, Tyson won a Tony Award for the revival of Horton Foote’s The Trip to Bountiful in 2013. President Barack Obama awarded her the Medal of Freedom in 2016.

The memorial is being held at the Abyssinian Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with COVID-19 protocols in place including masks and social distancing requirements.
