The New York Rangers are in a tough spot this season as they continue to struggle after a slow start to their 2024-25 campaign. After trading both Jacob Trouba and Kappo Kakko, it seems as though they aren’t done making moves in hopes of fighting their way back into a playoff spot.

Jones began the year as a third-pair defenseman with Braden Schneider, as he did last season, too. The Rangers have been using Will Borgen and Urho Vaakanainen over Jones, both of which were acquired in recent trades for Kaapo Kakko and Jacob Trouba, respectively.

The Rangers are on a 4-1-1 run with fewer goals and high-danger chances allowed since returning to the 1-3-1 system.
