According to ESPN, the Green Bay Packers are hiring DeMarcus Covington to be their defensive line coach. Last season was Covington’s first as the Patriots defensive coordinator.

Covington spent last season as the defensive coordinator for the Patriots under Jerod Mayo. It was his first season at the position, and the defense struggled on the field, giving up an average of 342.9 yards per game and 5,829 yards on the season overall.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, former New England Patriots defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington as their next defensive line coach after firing Jason Rebrovich earlier this month while former NFL quarterback and assistant under Tom Clements Sean Mannion will take over as quarterbacks coach.

The Green Bay Packers are adding to their defensive coaching staff this offseason. After being in need of a defensive line coach, the team was able to hire former New England Patriots defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington for the position.

DeMarcus Covington, who had been with the New England Patriots since 2017, will not be back with the organization this season. After serving as the team’s defensive coordinator in 2024, the 35-year-old has joined the Green Bay Packers as their new defensive line coach.
