An accused drug dealer has been arrested in the killings of two confidential police informants whose bodies were stashed in trash bags and dumped in a northeastern Indiana river. Authorities say the 29-year-old man was expected to be formally charged Wednesday with murder.

Volunteers were cleaning up the river Friday afternoon on the edge of downtown Fort Wayne when they found the remains in the water near Guldlin Park. The coroner determined Dixon died by strangulation and suffocation, while Johnson died from a gunshot wound and stab wound.

Two confidential informants for a central Indiana police department have been found dead inside trash bags thrown into a Fort Wayne river after being shot, stabbed and strangled. A “known drug dealer” has since been arrested on murder charges.
