Kanpur: A well-known Bangladeshi cricket fan, who dresses as a tiger, had to be hospitalised after “falling ill” while watching the second Test against India at the Green Park Stadium here, an incident that he first indicated to be a case of physical assault.

Tiger Roby, a Bangladesh fan, initially alleged he was assaulted by Indian fans during the second IND vs BAN Test in Kanpur but later denied the claims, stating his pain was due to an illness.

The stadium authorities also covered the stand behind the boundary rope with a black cover to prevent monkeys from spotting and stealing eatables. Broadcasters use this area to store cameras and other equipment.

The Green Park Stadium will be hosting the first international match since 2021. But the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department has, reportedly, declared one of the stands in the stadium as dangerous

Test matches have been played at Kanpur's Green Park to date but this is the only second instance when a captain elected to bowl first

The association is confident about smooth conduct of the Test after reports that the C stand will not be able to take the load of the spectators
