Brooklyn native Jay-Z is trying to bring some of that influence downtown. The billionaire has been trying to expand his portfolio with a Times Square casino bid, and now he’s attempting to sweeten the pot by promising the Hell’s Kitchen community $250 million in hopes that it will help him win the bid.

Jay-Z’s group would give an initial $15 million to the local community, plus ongoing grants based on .5% of the casino’s performance, they say.

New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen and surrounding area will directly benefit upon bid approval, according to Roc Nation’s official statement.

Roc Nation has spearheaded a “first-of-its-kind” financial commitment to the Hell’s Kitchen community in New York City, NY, as part of the proposal for Caesars Palace Times Square. According to a press release,

JAY-Z’s Roc Nation is taking the steps to ensure the creation his Caesars Palace Times Square casino does right by the community. On Monday (Sept. 23), the entertainment company announced a grant program to help Hell’s Kitchen and the surrounding areas near the proposed gambling house.
