NBA free agency officially began Monday, and the first stunner came the following morning when Myles Turner, the top free agent on the board, agreed to join the Bucks on a four-year deal. That's a surprise on its own.

LeBron James will be staying with the Los Angeles Lakers after picking up his $52.6 million player option for next season. This is not a surprising development for many reasons, one of which may be just how difficult it would be to trade the 40-year-old superstar even if that was a desired option.

The Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James do not appear to be on good terms currently. Plenty of reports have come out that suggest the two sides could part ways. Some think a trade might occur. Others simply think that James will play out the final season on his contract and either leave for another team or retire next offseason.

The Houston Rockets traded Cam Whitmore to the Washington Wizards for two second-round picks, the team announced Sunday. Washington is sending Houston a 2026 second-round pick from the Bulls and a 2029 second-round pick from Sacramento in the deal. The trade also involves the Pelicans, who are sending the draft rights to Mojave King to Houston.

Cam Whitmore is going to get his chance. Whitmore was frustrated in Houston with his lack of minutes. Part of that was that Whitmore was stuck in a logjam at the forward spot in Houston, and the addition this offseason of Kevin Durant and Dorian Finney-Smith was not going to help matters.
