Will Howard wanted to be drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. As day three of the 2025 NFL Draft rolled on, Howard’s wait made him nasty, and as the Steelers’ sixth-round pick approached, Howard wished to be a Steeler.

NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers were one of several quarterback-needy teams around the NFL. The Steelers saw Justin Fields and Russell Wilson leave in free agency while also waiting for free agent Aaron Rodgers to make a decision regarding his NFL future.

After the draft concluded in Green Bay on Sunday, Mark Murphy, the Packers' president and CEO, was joined by other Packers and Steelers representatives as the Packers handed the ball off to the Steelers, effectively starting the timer until Pittsburgh plays host to the NFL Draft in 2026.
