A 21-year-old Wisconsin rock climber fell to his death while rappelling a national monument in Wyoming. On Sunday, shortly before 8 p.m., Stewart Phillip Porter from Eau Claire was rappelling the second pitch of El Cracko Diablo on Devils Tower and went careening downward, according to the National Park Service.

Stewart Porter, of Eau Claire, Wis., died Saturday after falling Saturday at Devils Tower National Monument. A man who died while rock climbing in a national monument in Wyoming over the weekend was from Eau Claire, Wis.

A rock climber from Eau Claire, Wisconsin fell to his death Sunday while rappelling the Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming, authorities said. The National Park Service identified the victim as 21-year-old Stewart P. Porter.
