This triggered some lovely memory for me, not only from when my father was alive and would always stop at a place of interest on our way to see Grandparents in Gloucestershire, but in later years when I became a Friend of the Ridgeway, and would walk one stretch of it every Sunday, making many friends from fellow walkers with me.

One of the largest discoveries of medieval wooden vessels ever made in this country, they are believed to be dishes belonging to the inmates of the long-gone Hospital of St Mary Spital, which gave its name to this place.
